Description of the project: K D Malaviya National Oil Museum Trust has been formed by all the public sector unit oil giants with the purpose of creating a National level Oil Museum in the name of the first Oil Minister of India, Shri K D Malaviya. The complete project has been conceptualised and designed by the Design Cell of Creative Museum Designers (CMD). The execution of the complete project has been entrusted to CMD. The Museum Complex is designed on an approximate 3.5 acres of land in one of the most posh institutional area of Guwahati at Khanapara. The Museum Complex is designed to have one open air oil park, spread over an area of 1.2 acres and one museum building to be developed on a floor area of 6500 sq.m. The museum will have five exhibition galleries and depict the story of oil through history to the present day including the total gamut of exploration, economy and world politics around this liquid gold. The open air oil park will be developed to give the visitors a feeling of the actual oil field, drilling operations and deep forest explorations.

Present status: The present status of this project is as follows:
  • The design of the museum complex is complete.
  • Architectural design has been submitted.
  • Foundation work of the building is in progress.
