Description of the project: Jharkhand Council on Science & Technology (JCST) has planned to develop a Hybrid Planetarium for the Science Centre. Creative Museum Designers (CMD) has been chosen by JCST on recommendation basis. CMD proposes to set up an Astronomy gallery and Amateur Astronomy club associated with the Planetarium. Visitors will enjoy the Planetarium show along with the sky watching facility. The dome size of the Planetarium will be 15m. A set of special projectors will display the astronomical objects life-like on the arced ceiling of a dome. Seating capacity of this Planetarium will be 150 to 160 which is unidirectional. The shows of this Planetarium are skillfully woven tapestry of star tales and combined with constellation identification and astron­omy information to a general audience from a unique viewpoint. There will also be some sort of other facilities like- interactive exhibition on astronomy and space science, activity area for students on astronomy, sky observation through a GPS-enabled telescope etc. 

Present status: The present status of the project is as follows:

• The Planetarium Building has been completed in all respects.
• Other infrastructural facilities like AC plant etc. are all installed and are being commissioned.
• Planetarium Equipment and Dome Projection Screen are getting installed.
• Exhibition gallery work is in progress.
