Description of the project: The Regional Science Centre (RSC), Vijayawada, located at Bhavanipuram, Vijayawada, built in 2005 consisting of a science centre building, an open air theatre, a park and a guest house. The existing building houses 2 galleries on ground floor and an EduSat satellite connectivity on the mezzanine floor. Although the RSC, Vijayawada is functioning since 2005, the exhibits and facilities are very old. Also, after bifurcation of the state, Amaravati-Vijayawada region gained huge importance since it is projected as the state capital and started attracting big investments and population. With this noble intention to meet the future growing demand, also to continue the spirit of building scientific acumen and awareness among the general public and making science more interesting to the young budding minds,
Andhra Pradesh State Council of Science & Technology (APCOST) has approached
Creative Museum Designers (CMD) to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) regarding the upgradation work of this Regional Science Centre.
Names of the Galleries: This Regional Science Centre will have the following facilities:
- One heritage in Science & technology gallery
- Fun Science Gallery
- Astronomy gallery
- Space theatre/ Human machine gallery
It will also have:
- Science Demonstration cum Children activity corner
- 3D theatre
- 8mt. Dia Dome Planetarium
- Outdoor Science Park facilities etc.
Present Status: The first draft proposal has been completed and submitted to APCOST on 24th November, 2018.
